Introduction

Ensign O’Toole is a military comedy that aired on NBC from 23 September 1962 to 05 May 1963, with Dean Jones in the title role of a nonchalant United States Navy ensign during the early 1960’s.

Outline

Jones played an officer aboard the fictional US Navy destroyer USS Appleby, which roamed the Pacific Ocean.

He keeps things lively by instigating pranks while avoiding any work and trying to show up his nemesis, Lt. Rex St. John. The regular seamen are his willing accomplices.
