Introduction

Combat! is an American television drama series that originally aired on ABC from 1962 until 1967. The exclamation point in Combat! was depicted on-screen as a stylised bayonet. The show covered the grim lives of a squad of American soldiers fighting the Germans in France during World War II.

Outline

Kirby claims a civilian he assaulted is a deserter, but Saunders maintains the missing in action (MIA) Sergeant was killed. With his dying words, Kirby’s pal gasped that his Sergeant dropped his carbine and abandoned his men, but Saunders can not imagine the tough infantry vet would panic. Then Sergeant Avery shows up in civilian clothes, with a strange tale, but instead of Saunders reporting Avery to the CO (commanding officer), he accompanies him to find a corroborating witness.
