Outline

This three-part miniseries captures the events of the Spanish Armada, revealing newly discovered documents and revisiting significant parts of European history. The docudrama begins in the summer of 1588, as Tudor England anticipates an invasion by a large Spanish fleet sent to overthrow Queen Elizabeth I and take over the land.

Anita Dobson plays the role of England’s queen in dramatic reconstructions, while historian Dan Snow explores relevant sites and describes key characters, weapons and battle strategies.
