Introduction

Apocalypse, Hitler is a television series in two parts retracing the rise of Adolf Hitler and the birth of the Nazi ideology, broadcast on France 2 the 25 October 2011.

It brings together historical documents known or unpublished and recounts the major events that led to the seizure of power. The archive images have been restored and colourised.

The series is directed by Isabelle Clarke and Daniel Costelle and narrated by Mathieu Kassovitz. The original music was composed by Kenji Kawai, the sound track Gilbert Courtois.

Outline of Part 01

The first part recounts the beginnings of Adolf Hitler born April 20, 1889 in Braunau am Inn in Austria, a loving mother and a domineering father.

Poor pupil, artist missed, he will engage fervently in the Bavarian infantry during the First World War.

Injured, he will learn during his convalescence, the defeat. The humiliation of the Diktat will be one of the sources of his exacerbated nationalism and obsessive anti-semitism.

He discovered himself as a speaker and soon became the spokesperson of a far-right group, the DAP. It galvanises crowds by highlighting the purity of the race. Despite the failed coup of November 1923, the publication of Mein Kampf will raise his aura that still does not worry other political parties.
