Introduction

Documentary series following a batch of fresh-faced 16-17 year old recruits going through the British Army’s basic training at the Army Foundation College Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Each one will suffer successes and failures as they attempt to prove that they have what it takes to be a soldier.

After six gruelling weeks of basic training, the members of 7 Platoon finally get to see their families, but after a week back at home, junior soldier Fishwick is torn between her career and staying with her family.

The platoon visits the graves of 4,000 soldiers in Normandy, leading some to confirm their commitment to the Army, while others question their future.
