Introduction

Documentary series following a batch of fresh-faced 16-17 year old recruits going through the British Army’s basic training at the Army Foundation College Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Each one will suffer successes and failures as they attempt to prove that they have what it takes to be a soldier.

For the first time, the recruits fire live ammunition and have to use bayonets in a one-to-one combat exercise, and also run four miles with full 15kg kits and rifles in the hardest physical test to date.

Turner is caught smoking in the bathroom and punished by the major, while Fishwick has been segregated from 7 Platoon in specialist rehabilitation and is struggling without her friends.
