Walter Cronkite narrates this documentary concerning the dropping of the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima and the defeat of the Japanese in 1945. Elaborate preparations went into the manufacture of the bomb and utmost secrecy surrounded the mission. We see films of the vast destruction caused by the bomb. The surrender ceremony aboard the USS Missouri 02 September 1945, in Tokyo Bay is also seen.
