Introduction

The sixth season of M*A*S*H aired Tuesdays at 9:00-9:30PM from 20 September 1977 to 24 January 1978 and Mondays at the same time from 30 January to 27 March 1978.

Outline

The 4077th acquires Charles Emerson Winchester III as a replacement surgeon when Frank does not return from R&R, while Margaret returns from her honeymoon in a bad mood.

Jim Fritzell and Everett Greenbaum received a Writers Guild Award nomination for this episode. This is also the first episode in which Larry Linville no longer appears and a new doctor played by David Ogden Stiers is transferred to the unit.

Guest stars Rick Hurst and Robert Symonds (who plays a colonel who sends Winchester from Tokyo to Korea and will play it again in the season 9 episode “No Laughing Matter“, S09E13).
