Introduction

In the summer of 1945, at the end of World War II, American troops made a startling discovery in northern Germany: a secret hangar housing a dozen unfinished boomerang-shaped aircraft, the HO 229.

Outline

In the final months of World War II, American troops discovered a top-secret facility in Germany with an advanced batwing-shaped jet fighter. If Nazi engineers had had more time, would this jet have ultimately changed the outcome of the war? In this documentary they rebuild a jet discovered in a top-secret German facility during the final months of World War II – the Horten 229.

These Nazi “flying wings” were sent to the US where a team of experts worked to reproduce Adolf Hitler’s “stealth fighter.” Could it really have eluded Allied radar and changed the course of the war?

This documentary goes behind the scenes with an elite group of aerospace engineers and stealth experts from Northrop Grumman as they build a full-scale model of the sinister bat wing fighter. Once complete, go where cameras have never been allowed as the stealth’s Northrop team test the Nazi fighter’s capability at their remote Tejon Radar Range. After decades of debate and speculation the mystery of the Horten 229’s stealth capability is finally put to rest.
