13 in de Oorlag (13 in the War) is a docudrama about young people in the Second World War. In each episode, the war experience of a 13-year-old is central.
Outline
Roos (13 years old, Amsterdam) was arrested with her parents and taken to transit camp Westerbork. Here they wait for transport to the extermination camps in Poland. No one wants to go to the unknown east, from which no one has ever returned. Lisa Wade visits the large extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau in Poland, where most of the Jews were murdered immediately upon arrival in the gas chambers. Much to her astonishment, she finds another girls’ ring on the property.
