Introduction

Combat! is an American television drama series that originally aired on ABC from 1962 until 1967. The exclamation point in Combat! was depicted on-screen as a stylised bayonet. The show covered the grim lives of a squad of American soldiers fighting the Germans in France during World War II.

Outline

Saunders’ squad is sent behind enemy lines to find and destroy a German radar installation. Sergeant Rawlings, a radar specialist, is sent along to learn all he can about the German radar before it is destroyed, and a French resistance fighter, Marchand, is also sent along to guide them. From the time they leave their lines, they are under constant surveillance by the Germans, and Rawlings is killed on the way there.
