McHale’s Navy is an American sitcom starring Ernest Borgnine that aired 138 half-hour episodes over four seasons, from 11 October 1962 to 12 April 1966 on the ABC television network.
The series was filmed in black and white and originated from a one-hour drama titled “Seven Against the Sea”, broadcast on 03 April 1962. A documentary, McHale’s Navy: The Crew Remembers, was aired in 2007.
Producer Edward Montagne set up a female version of McHale’s Navy entitled Broadside, which ran for 32 episodes in the 1964-1965 ABC season.

Background
Binghamton begins to regret having so harshly punished the 73 crew, when McHale and the boys – while in the process of trying to rid their island of a bothersome bird – give the Captain the impression that they are out to kill him. Now the Captain lives in fear, and with Admiral Tucker (Paul Bryar) coming to give fitness reports, it may not be the best time to be paranoid. McHale and crew want to give Binghamton a surprise birthday party to try and get on his good side again. When they finally get Binghamton to the island for the party, the Captain learns that the crew was actually trying to kill a bird. Walter Brooke appears as Captain Harper.
