Introduction
Barry is an American dark comedy-crime television series created by Alec Berg and Bill Hader that premiered on HBO on 25 March 2018.
Hader stars as Barry Berkman, a former US Marine and a hitman, from Cleveland who travels to Los Angeles to kill someone but finds himself joining an acting class taught by Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler), where he meets aspiring actress Sally Reed (Sarah Goldberg) and begins to question his path in life as he deals with his criminal associates such as Monroe Fuches (Stephen Root) and NoHo Hank (Anthony Carrigan).
Outline
Eight years have passed since Barry and Sally ran away together, during which they had a son named John. Having taken on new identities, they live a seemingly peaceful life mostly detached from society; however, Barry remains severely paranoid and has raised John with a distorted perception of the outside world. Sally, working as a waitress, struggles with depression and pent-up aggression, which manifests when she chokes co-worker Bevel for coming onto her. John learns more about Barry’s past when he finds Barry’s military shadow box, though Barry changes some details related to killing. A dishevelled Gene, who has been in hiding outside the country for eight years, shows up at Warner Bros. Studios, where he agrees to become a consultant on an upcoming biopic about Barry and Sally. Sally is outraged to learn of this, and when she tells Barry, he decides he must kill Gene.
