First Weapons explores the history and innovation behind the weapons used by First Nations peoples.

Outline

The amerr (pronounced ah-mud-da) is an extraordinarily versatile weapon.

To make it, we go on Country to collect the materials: spinifex grass for resin, the mulga tree and emu bush. The men then melt the spinifex to make “bush glue”, before beginning to carve the collected wood.
