Introduction

First Weapons explores the history and innovation behind the weapons used by First Nations peoples.

Outline

Phil can’t wait to use the wartilykirri (pronounced wah-til-gear-re), or the “number 7 boomerang”, which he sourced and carved with Joseph, a Warumungu man from Tennant Creek, Northern Territory.

After Phil and Joseph use it out bush, they take it to Meanjin where mechanical engineer Dr Conrad Stacey makes a model of the boomerang to test in a wind tunnel.
