Introduction

The Pacific was a key battle ground during World War II. Combat here changed the tides of the war.

Outline

Crusade in the Pacific examines the Chinese intervention in the Korean War. Chinese Communists cross the North Korean border just as United Nations (UN) troops were moving to finish off the North Korean forces. The Chinese forces cut off US troops near the Changjin reservoir. The US forces march successfully to Hungnam on the coast where they could be evacuated. Elsewhere UN forces are forced back until a UN counter-attack stops the Chinese advances an recaptures Seoul. Truman dismisses MacArthur after the General pushes to attack mainland China. The War in Korea becomes a stalemate. Delegates from both sides meet in an efforts to sign an ceasefire, but a formal truce remained elusive.
