Outline (General)

This documentary portrays one of the most devastating battles of ancient times: the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest, which played a decisive role in shaping modern-day Europe. It was the worst defeat ever suffered by the Roman Empire: 30,000 men cut down in the forests of Germania, betrayed by Arminius, a man the Romans had trained and trusted.

Arminius – born as the son of a Cheruscan, abducted as a pawn of the Romans, and raised as a soldier, he returns to subdued Germania under Emperor Augustus. He makes himself the leader of the revolt against Rome, resulting in the destruction of the legions of Varus’ in the year 9 AD.

On the side of Arminius’, the audience will experience the “clash of cultures” between the Romans and Germania. In a memorable television event, we accompany him from the simple mud hut of his father to ancient Rome, from the plains of Pannonia to battlefields in the gorges of the Teutoburg Forest.

Outline (Part 02)

How could lightly armed Germanic tribes defeat heavily armed Romans in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest that took place in the fall of 9 AD? Until today, historians try to unravel why as many as 30,000 Roman soldiers, along with countless slaves and families, died in those three days of bloody butchery.
