Introduction

“Listen in the Compartments” is a film adaptation of the story of the same name by Soviet writer Vladimir Tyurin.

Also known as Slushat v otsekakh (original title) and Слушать в отсеках (Russian).

Outline

During military operations in 1943, a Soviet submarine destroys the enemy, but the crew also dies in battle. 40 years have passed, and the son of the submarine hero Nikolai Loginov also serves in the Navy. Taking part in command training to detect a target, he fails the task due to high moral principles. But the friendly mutual assistance of his comrades and the memory of his father’s feat help him prove his skill.

Trivia

  • The filming of the film “Listen in the Compartments” took place on the Crimean coast near Sevastopol.
    • The final shots are documentary footage of the Navy Day celebration in this city.
  • Real submarines were used in the filming process: general filming took place on board the B-326 model, and torpedo loading was carried out using the B-36.
  • A small anti-submarine ship and the patrol ship Pytlivy were also used.
  • In order to avoid mistakes in the control of the boat, Captain 3rd Rank Osintsev took part in the command.
