Introduction

Apocalypse, the First World War is a series of five documentary films chronicling the history of the First World War, from its origins to the end of the war.

It was made after World War II Apocalypse and Apocalypse Hitler, and before Apocalypse Stalin, also by Isabelle Clarke and Daniel Costelle, and narrated by Mathieu Kassovitz. It gathers known or unpublished period documents and tells the great events of the war, from restored and coloured archive images. She is part of the Apocalypse series.

Broadcast on the One (RTBF) from 02 March 2014 to 16 March 2014, it airs on France 2 from 18 March 2014 to 01 April 2014, and in Canada on TV5 Québec Canada in May 2014.

Outline of Part 01

On 28 June 1914, the assassination of an obscure Austrian archduke in Sarajevo triggers the most disastrous conflict the world has ever known.

Germany becomes an enemy to France, invades Belgium, and in September arrives at the gates of Paris.
