Outline
The First World War has been going on for two years and has already claimed more than three million lives.
Yet none of the belligerents can take the ascendancy over the other.
The British and French chiefs of staff want to put an end to the war thanks to an offensive planned for the summer, in the Somme.
But the Germans surprised them by setting off on 21 February a steel storm on 20 kilometres of front, in Verdun.
From a collection of more than 500 hours of archives restored and put in colour, “Apocalypse Verdun” offers a dive in the heart of one of the greatest battles of all time.
