Introduction

It Ain’t Half Hot, Mum is a BBC television sitcom about a Royal Artillery concert party based in Deolali in India and the fictional village of Tin Min in Burma, during the last months of the Second World War.

The title comes from the first episode, in which young Gunner Parkin (Christopher Mitchell) writes home to his mother in England.

Outline

The head man of Thin Yu’s village is unhappy with her and wants her to identify her three dates but she fails, since all whites look the same to her. Ashwood and Williams back off after an unsuccessful attempt at a duel but Parkin wants Reynolds’ permission to marry her. Reynolds refuses. Then it is discovered that Thin Yu has another admirer, who left his hat behind after an assignation with her. To everybody’s surprise it turns out to be – Lofty.
