Deep Wreck Mysteries is a 2006 documentary series exploring the historical secrets revealed by deep-sea wrecks.
Much of Britain’s underwater heritage has been beyond the reach of investigation. Too difficult to find, too deep to dive, too dark and dangerous to film. Now, advances in dive technology bring these deep sea wrecks to the screen, revealing a world of secret weapons, negligence and atrocity.
In 1944, as an Allied convoy made for France, an explosion rocked the American freighter SS Ezra Weston. Sixty years on, the extent of the catastrophe is revealed.
