Introduction
Written by Matthew Chapman and directed by Bruno Barreto, The American Guest (O Hóspede Americano, original title) follows the journey of former US president Teddy Roosevelt, played by Aidan Quinn, alongside Brazilian army officer Cândido Rondon, portrayed by Chico Diaz, in a quest to explore unknown regions and come face to face with indigenous inhabitants of the Brazilian Amazon.
Outline
In the memories, controversial decisions and a thirst for victory cost Theodore more than a good friend. Returning to the wilderness, the two commanders’ ideological differences conflict. Rondon puts the well-being of his men in front of his own. The return to civilisation is close, but will the group get there before it is too late?
