Barry (2022): S03E08 – Starting Now

Introduction

Barry is an American dark comedy-crime television series created by Alec Berg and Bill Hader that premiered on HBO on 25 March 2018.

Hader stars as Barry Berkman, a former US Marine and a hitman, from Cleveland who travels to Los Angeles to kill someone but finds himself joining an acting class taught by Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler), where he meets aspiring actress Sally Reed (Sarah Goldberg) and begins to question his path in life as he deals with his criminal associates such as Monroe Fuches (Stephen Root) and NoHo Hank (Anthony Carrigan).

Outline

Barry leaves the hospital only to find Sally at his apartment asking for his help with getting revenge on Natalie. Barry refuses, but the surviving member of the motocross gang arrives, knocks out Barry, and attempts to kill Sally, who fights him off and beats him to death. Barry tells Sally to go home and that he will take the blame. Fuches is imprisoned. Hank is forced to listen to his fellow Chechens be eaten alive by a panther; he breaks free from his shackles and uses a guard’s machine gun to kill the animal. He then kills Elena and rescues Cristobal but is shaken by the day’s events. Albert confronts Barry as he is burying the biker and implores him to stop killing. Barry makes plans with Sally to run away from Los Angeles, unaware she is already traveling alone to Joplin, Missouri. Jim Moss calls him to tell him he spoke with Gene and asks to meet, but Barry refuses. He subsequently calls Gene, who tells him he is going to kill Moss. Barry prepares to kill Moss himself but is ambushed by the police, having been lured by Gene and Moss into getting arrested.
