World War Two by Drone Documentary Series Overview (2021)

Introduction

In this six-part series, battlefield historians and military experts utilise cutting edge, drone mounted technology to re-examine some of the second world war’s most iconic sites.

Also known as WW2 from Above, WWII by Drone, and World War 2 by Drone.

Outline

The series presents an exciting, different way of telling some of the great stories from WW2 – by ‘uncovering’ and revealing places long buried and hidden by the passing years. Drones are sent into the skies, down deep into the earth and beneath the seas to search for evidence that shines new light on the wars’ great battles and conflicts.

The old battlefields of World War II hold many secrets, including lost sanctuaries, buried atrocities, and forgotten heroes. Now, military experts and conflict archaeologists are using cutting-edge, drone-mounted technology to re-examine some of the European theatre’s most iconic sites and reveal their untold stories. From Maltese submarine wrecks to a top-secret research base in Scotland to the location of the Battle of the Bulge, this six-part series revisits seminal moments from history’s greatest war from an entirely new perspective.
