The events of 06 June 1944, when more than 150,000 troops took part in the largest amphibious invasion in history with the aim of liberating Europe from Germany. The programme begins with veterans and the family of soldiers involved describe their experiences from midnight until 7.30am, with expert commentary from historians Max Hastings and Onyeka Nubia.
