Introduction
Bodies is a British crime/science fiction limited series primarily written and created for Netflix by Paul Tomalin.
It is based on the 2015 DC Vertigo graphic novel of the same name, written by Si Spencer and illustrated by Dean Ormston, Tula Lotay, Meghan Hetrick and Phil Winslade.
Also known as Project VI (working title, UK).

Outline
- Hasan’s team investigate Elias Mannix, a boy who was seen with Syed before the body was found. They view footage of him in foster care talking about a recurring dream where he kills a baby whilst saying “Know You Are Loved”. Hasan interrogates Mannix’s foster parents, who lure police into a trap which kills her colleague DC Rick Williams. Mannix’s foster mother speaks cryptically and thanks Hasan for what she will do for Elias, and for her son Jawad’s impending sacrifice.
- Whiteman frames a local rapist and black market criminal for the body and death of DI Farrell, although his superior DCI Calloway remains suspicious. A child, who previously saw Whiteman with the body at Longharvest Lane, arrives at his station.
- Hillinghead is encouraged by his superior to close the case, but cannot bring himself to burn the photo of the man in the glass reflection. He is visited by Ashe, who wants the photo back. The two reluctantly agree to further investigate the case unofficially.
- United Britain is ruled by a dystopian junta called The Executive, led by Commander Elias Mannix, who seized power after a devastating bombing in 2023. Their slogan is “Know You Are Loved” (KYAL). Maplewood is blocked from investigating, but illegally has her estranged brother identify the man she found via his DNA as Gabriel Defoe, a quantum gravity professor. She is recruited by Mannix to investigate Defoe’s association with a terror group named Chapel Perilous. Visiting his university, Maplewood shockingly confronts an apparently alive Defoe.
