Introduction

Atatürk is a Turkish epic biographical historical drama film directed by Mehmet Ada Öztekin and written by Necati Şahin.

It follows the life of the founding father of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. It stars Aras Bulut İynemli in the title role, alongside an ensemble supporting cast.

First shown as two films and then as a six-part TV series.

Outline

In his first post in the province of Damascus, Mustafa Kemal observes that the once-glorious Ottoman Empire is slowly decaying. He returns to Thessaloniki but, due to his outspoken views, is marginalised and assigned to a passive role. Meanwhile, the Reserve Battalions that Enver Bey had sent to Istanbul revolt.
