Introduction
Lads’ Army (consequently known as Bad Lads’ Army, Bad Lads’ Army: Officer Class and Bad Lads’ Army: Extreme) was a reality game show that constituted a historically derived social experiment.
Shown on ITV, the series was based on the premise of subjecting today’s delinquent young men to the conditions of conscripts to British Army National Service of the 1950s to see if this could rehabilitate them.


Outline
Clown Chris Townsend sends the staff anonymous demands for the return of a garden gnome he stole, but it’s fund and adopted as official platoon mascot. After two weeks, the bad lads generally master chores and get progress report interviews, for several quit encouraging, even for life in general. Next exercises day’s long march includes a river crossing, malingering attempts by John Kyprianou -the medic lost count- and Townsend only get aggro from staff and comrades, while good examples inspire the sections, only the malingerers hinder a collective platoon arrival. …
