Introduction
Lads’ Army (consequently known as Bad Lads’ Army, Bad Lads’ Army: Officer Class and Bad Lads’ Army: Extreme) was a reality game show that constituted a historically derived social experiment.
Shown on ITV, the series was based on the premise of subjecting today’s delinquent young men to the conditions of conscripts to British Army National Service of the 1950s to see if this could rehabilitate them.


Outline
The last training week starts with church service, but just washing up earns slacker John ‘Kyp’ Kyprianou twenty ‘bastards’ (a push-up and jumping Jack-combination) and the day of rest loses many hours by obligatory hymn singing and a beastly room inspection when all beds are turned over in ‘solidarity’. Next the tug of war (rope-pulling between the sections) and fatigues (boring chores like sweeping leaves). Mail is a boost for most, grievous for Kyp as his parents write he hard truth.
